This three-day course will see students use Adobe Creative Suite to design and implement a cool, clean, contemporary website. While the course will focus primarily on design, students will learn basics skills in Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash to create a standards compliant two columned layout with the following elements:

- Internal and external links
- Email links
- Images
- Animation and video

Design For Print
3 Days
This three-day course will cover all the stages involved in creating a piece of designed, printed material from inception to delivery of the finished product. Using a combination of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, the following areas of Design will be covered:
- Areas of print design; brochures, magazines, book covers, typesetting, packaging, display design
- Sourcing images; legality
- Resolution and colour space: CMYK & RGB
- Discussion of styles/design solutions
- Print options - what paper stock
- Manipulation and combining images and prepping for use in layout (Photoshop)
- Receiving copy
- Discussion of basics of typography - font usage, margins and gutter, use of images, paragraph options etc.
- Creating basic document layouts (InDesign)
- Creation of any illustrative or diagramatic elements (Illustrator); also touching on logo design
- Combining elements on final print ready document
- Creation of low resolution proofs for client
- Implementation of final changes - client sign off
- Creation of high resolution PDFs to send to print

Broadcast Animation Production
8 Evenings
Using a model Flash animated film, the students will be brought through the logical order of an animation production pipeline using the following applications: Adobe's Flash, After Effects, and Apple's Final Cut Pro editing software, (including audio dialog recording). Students will start with basic story principles, and script writing for animation. They will progress to storyboarding their script, designing characters and backgrounds, and creating an animatic. They will finish their film with animating and lip synching their characters, performing camera moves, and polishing their film with special effects.
In conjunction with the animation theory, the students will be creating their own animated short film. The course will culminate with a showing of their films to fellow students, friends and family.
Along with the development of student's animated short films, topics include:
- An introduction to the Broadcast Flash production pipeline and Flash interface
- Story elements and creating characters
- Animation techniques
- Story scripts and storyboarding using Flash templates
- Recording audio dialog and lip synching
- Introduction to animatic building using Final Cut Pro
- Digital layouts including camera movements
- Introduction to After Effects and final editing

ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS
Adobe After Effects - Level 1
3 Days
Adobe After Effects is an industry leading programme for adding effects and titles to film and video. This hands-on course will introduce students to all the essential features of After Effects.
Within the first day, participants will become familiar with the After Effects interface and its connections to other programmes such as Adobe Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. Over the next two days, students will gain hands on experience of 2D and 3D compositing techniques, animation, titles, graphic overlays, masking and colour correction by completing a bluescreen project.
Course topics include:
- Importing footage into Final Cut Pro, then into After Effects
- Create and adjust layers
- Editing keyframes
- Applying knowledge to video: Colour correction, Masking, and Animating Effects
- Shooting and preparing footage for bluescreen

Adobe After Effects - Level 2

In this three-day course, students will gain hands on experience of advanced 3D compositing techniques through the creation of a digital cutout animation. Other topics in this course include motion tracking and stabilizing, linking and expressions as well as learning about alternative uses of After Effects.

- 3D in After Effects
- Creating a journey through a city in 3D
- Creating a character for digitial cut-out animation
- Using Lights: Negative Lighting, Target Lights, Dynamic Lighting

Adobe Photoshop - Level 1

Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard software for editing digital images, used throughout the print, internet and multimedia industries. This course will benefit anyone needing a good grounding from which to develop highly effective Photoshop skills. The course content will introduce participants to the basics of selecting and modifying images, creating and manipulating layers, editing and exporting files, and learning techniques for creating original artwork.
Upon completion of this Photoshop training course, participants will be able to use Photoshop to:

Introduction to Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign is the industry standard page layout and design application. This course will take place over six evenings and will cover the basic skills needed to plan and produce a variety of professional pages with InDesign.
Topics in this course include learning the InDesign layout, basic design techniques, working with text, graphics and layers, utilizing colours, swatches and gradients to create simple vector based graphics, as well as exporting Acrobat PDF files for printing.

Introduction to Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is the industry leading software for the creation of logos, graphic illustrations and technical drawings for print and screen. This course will introduce beginners to the basics of Illustrator with respect to object based illustration, logo creation, and typographic manipulation.
