An eight week intensive film acting course aimed at aspiring and beginning actors as well as theatrically-trained actors making the transition from stage to screen. The course enables actors to tap into and exploit their potential for film acting, whilst equipping them with a practical awareness of what directors and casting directors look for in auditions.

TUTOR BIOGS:
JJ Harrington - Writer/Director
JJ (Joanne Harrington) is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (BA English Literature and Drama) and the Dublin Institute of Technology (MA Film Theory and Production, 2001).
JJ has written and directed four short films, receiving script awards funded by Ireland's national broadcaster Radio Telefis Eireann (RTE), the Irish Film Board, and Filmbase. Her projects have screened competitively in international festivals, with three receiving national broadcast on RTE2. In 2007 she directed a short for the cross-border Sharp Focus project for Calipo Theatre and Production Company in Belfast (funded by European Fund for Peace and Reconciliation). In 2008, she workshopped, devised and shot a script with a group of Irish Settled Travellers.
Her films are Nuns (13mins, Drogheda Traveller Women's Social Care and Health Project, 2008), Sticks and Stones (15mins, Calipo/ European Fund for Peace and Reconciliation, 2006), Colder (13mins, Irish Film Board/ RTE, 2005), Swan Story (15mins, FilmBase/RTE, 2002) and Writer's Fantasy (15mins, DIT, 2001). These projects have been produced within a broad spectrum of budgets (€500 to €80,000), formats (Digibeta, 16mm, 35mm, DV), and crew sizes (4 to 40).
She has taught acting for camera, film studies and production, and writes screenplays and fiction. In 2009 two of her short stories were shortlisted for the Fish International Publishing Award. She is a former recipient of the Tyrone Guthrie Centre Bursary.
JJ teaches film production for Calipo's "So You Wanna Make a Movie?", and screen acting workshops for FilmBase, Dublin.
Thyrza Ging - Casting Director
Thyrza began casting as an assistant to Maureen Hughes on Dorothy Mills. While working with Maureen she worked on the casting of the IFTA-winning RTE drama Prosperity and John Carney's latest film Zonad. She has gone on to cast Badly Drawn Roy for CBBC, Satellites and Meteorites, Savage, as well as numerous award-winning shorts and commercials. She is currently casting Parked, starring John Hurt and Robbie Sheehan, to be released in 2010. Thyrza was a judge for this year's Fringe Festival.

VISA, MasterCard, Laser, company or personal cheque, cash (all in Euros) are all acceptable terms of payment.
Course Cancellation Policy:
If notice is received at least (i) 14 days in advance of the class, the Customer is entitled to a full refund, (ii) 7 days of the class, the customer is entitled to a full class credit which must be used within 3 months of the date of the original class to another class offered by Filmbase. Customer is not entitled to a refund or class credit if less than 7 day advance notice is given. Failure to provide notice at least 14 days in advance of the class obligates the Customer to pay the full price of the class.
Filmbase reserves the right to amend or cancel the date, time and location of a Training class including replacing the personnel who may be scheduled to deliver the Training. In the event a Training class is cancelled, the customer is entitled to a full refund. Filmbase shall not be responsible for any other loss incurred by Customer as a result of a cancellation or amendment.
