Summer Sensational at Filmbase

Get into Shorts with Filmbase this Summer!
Filmbase is delighted to offer visitors the opportunity to catch a selection of free short film programmes around Temple Bar!
Get a snapshot of the fantastic filmmaking talent at work in Ireland today.
Films to be screened during the festival will include a variety of Dance films including RTÉ Dance on the Box films Deep End Dance and Why the Irish Dance that Way. We will also screen a selection of Irish language films including Lasairs An Cosc and Finscéal Pháidí. There will be comedy, documentary, animation, drama and more!
NB These short films have not been classified however, they have been selected to suit a wide audience. It is recommended that the selections chosen for the evening screenings in La Dolce Vita may not be suitable for young children. This selection of shorts includes two films by the award-winning team Ken Wardrop and Andrew Freedman from Venom Film (The Herd & Useless Dog). Also included are Terminal Communication, which focusses on a junction at Rosslare Harbour and various drivers' attempts to figure it out. Recent winner at Silverdocs, Bye, Bye Now, is an affectionate look at the removal of the humble telephone box from the Irish countryside. Finally, the other two films in the selection were produced as part of the Filmbase Documentary Filmmaking Course.

This selection kicks off with Filmbase/RTÉ short film Blood Coloured Moon which is set in rural Ireland on Good Friday night, 1967. Also included is Oscar nominated short drama The Door and a selection of other comedies and dramas.
